Watermelon BBQ

Want to be the coolest mom at the BBQ playdate? Try this AWESOME watermelon grill! All you need are colourful fruits on skewers, pretzel sticks, toothpicks and some elbow grease! The kids LOVED itโ€ฆ..bonus that itโ€™s healthy and delicious!

Watermelon Elephant

This is such a super fun and EASY way to add a fun  over the top element to any party. Especially a backyard Safari party. If you haven’t done one for your kids yet – you should!

To make this elephant:

  • Cut the watermlon in half
  • Scoop out the inside (making sure to leave some of the fruit so that it gives a nice pink colour)
  • Cut the fruit into chunks and store away until needed
  • For the trunk, use the part where the melon attaches to the vine (cut about 3 inches).
  • For the ears, I cut those out from the remaining piece after cutting the trunk
  •  Secure the trunk, eyes and ears with toothpicks and surround with colourful fruit!

Tea Pot Watermelon

Bring a refreshing desert to a summer tea party by creating with teapot watermelon.  I was able to do this by:

  • Take a mini watermelon and cut about a half an inch (or less) of the bottom off. Just enough so it doesnโ€™t roll
  • Cut the top quarter of the watermelon off (enough to make an opening for the โ€œcupโ€)
  • Scoop about half of the watermelon fruit out off the watermelon.
  • Take the top portion you cut off and cut the top half of that off. You will be left with a slice of watermelon about half an inch thick
  • Cut that piece to size for a handle (Mine was a little less than half) and secure it with toothpicks
  • Use the remaining half piece to make a spout and attach with toothpicks
  • Fill with your favourite fruits!
