What are Cricut Heat Presses?

A heat press is used to transfer heat required material (Heat Transfer Vinyl & Infusible Ink) to the blank (such as a shirt or mug). The Heat Press has a special plate that is able to heat evenly and to a consistent temperature that you can set depending on what material and item you are adhering it to. Using a heat press is FAR superior to using a household iron when using HTV and it is necessary when using Infusible Ink (which will not work properly if transferred with an iron).

What Cricut Heat Presses are available?

AutoPress (NEW PRODUCT):

Cricut just announced this brand new product, the Cricut AutoPress in March of 2022! It is a full heat press that is able to auto-adjust to thicknesses up to 2″ allowing you to create with clothing, bags and even wood! The machine also will adjust adjust the the pressure and eliminates the need to flip over the garment to press the back. This product will be available for purchase in Canada May 15th 2022 through the Canadian Cricut website.

Mug Press:

The Cricut mug press was launched just last year so still relatively new and the reviews on it have been phenomenal! It is an easy way to create microwavable, dishwasher and peel proof sublimation mugs! We wrote a post about the Cricut Mug press that details all the highlights of it.

Hat Press (NEW PRODUCT):

The Cricut Hat Press is another new machine that Cricut announced in March 2022 and will become available to purchase via this (Canadian) Cricut Hat Press link on March 13th 2022. This machine has a curved heat plate and a hat form (both come together!) that provide a tight fit to a hat to allow for easy transfer of HTV or Infusible Ink.

EasyPress line:

Cricut has created different sizes of the EasyPress to help with optimizing the transfer of vinyl and infusible ink to the item you are putting it on. The EasyPress comes in three sizes with the most common being the Cricut 9″ร—9″ EasyPress.

  1. 12″x10โ€ Cricut EasyPress: This is the largest and works perfectly if you are making a lot of adult clothing. The EasyPress 2 is currently available and Cricut just announced the EasyPress 3 in this size too!
  2. 9″X9″ Cricut EasyPress: is the most common size and great for making shirts (especially for kids), totes etc and is not too heavy
  3. Cricut EasyPress Mini: This is super great for making small items or odd shaped items like shoes. A lot of people usually get this in addition to one of the larger presses

Note: The EasyPress 3 line of products was announced in March 2022 and has a handy app to make pressing easier. The app is available for iphone and android. It works similar to the Cricut heat guide on their website but it is bluetooth enabled and will send the proper temperature and heat setting to your heat press with visual instructions that pop up step by step to ensure the process is smooth (no more forgetting to flip over and press again!

How much do they cost?

The Cost of the Cricut Heat Presses varies on which one you are getting.

  1. Easy Press 3: This new lineup of easy presses that will be available on March 13th 2022! The Cricut 9″x9″ EasyPress is $279.99 and the Cricut 12″x10″ EasyPress is $349.99
  2. Easy Press 2: I find these cheapest to buy on Amazon unless Cricut is having a heat press sale where you can pair it with your Cricut Access discount!
  3. Cricut Hat Press: Will be available for $200 CAD for the hat press and the hat form. They also have come out with two new hat blanks that can be used with either HTV for infusible Ink. They have baseball hat or a trucker hat and the price will be $24.99CAD for a 3 package  (or a 12 package for $83.99).
  4. Mug Press: This machine is $280 but the bundles seem to be a great deal as you need the materials to go with this machine.
  5. Cricut AutoPress: This new machine will be $1,199 CAD

How to get the best deal:

  • Discount codes:  While discount codes and coupons for Cricuts Canadian website do not work on machines they do work on the material portion of a bundle!  So you can get 10% or 20% off depending on what coupon you get when buying a bundle (which I always highly suggest!)
  • Cricut Access: If you have Cricut Access you can get 10% off any machine including heat presses! Not sure if Cricut Access is worth it – we detail all the benefits and costs in one place!

Where can I buy Cricut the NEW Heat Presses in Canada?:

The Cricut Heat Press 3 and the Cricut Hat Press will be available on the Cricut Canada website as of March 13th and the AutoPress will be available for purchase in Canada on May 15th.

I got my EasyPress very shortly after my Cricut Maker as I noticed almost immediately that the regular household iron (while it is a fantastic one!) was not providing the ideal press. Since I primarily make kids clothing it needs to stand up to my kids constant wash and wear.  I was lucky to get the 9″x9″ EasyPress 2 for Christmas that year and use it weekly. However, I do have the Autopress on my wish list.  It not only provides perfect pressure but it adjusts to different materials and thicknesses.
