baby sprinkle for second baby with cricut decorated diaper cake and wine bottles for mom

Baby Sprinkle decorations: Pandemic edition

One of the hardest parts of the pandemic is missing out on key milestones in friends and families lives.  So when we heard our friends were having a second baby we knew we needed to do something to celebrate.  Normally we would do a nice large backyard Sprinkle with all of our friends to celebrate but since that wasn’t an option we came up with another idea.  A baby sprinkle but with NO GUESTS. I know it seems absolutely insane BUT we truly didnt want to miss out on this special moment for our friends.  So we threw a backyard sprinkle where the only guests were the expectant mom and (briefly) the dad and sibling.  We set up a nice photo station to take a photo of the family together (another drawback of the pandemic – your only family photos are selfies!). Then we sat on chairs spaced far apart for some outside discussion and relaxation. We sprinkled the expectant mom with all of the super fun crafts below!

Customized Cricut Onesie

Nothing is cuter than tiny baby clothing! As someone who had a baby during a pandemic there is no opportunity to go to the store and get a cute outfit or fawn over beautiful tiny little clothes.  So we figured we should crack out the Cricut and make a fun little onesie

How did we make it?

Celebration wines

All mom moments are worth celebrating! We made these cute wine bottles for the mom to celebrate some of the more obscure milestones.

To create this we:

  • Picked some of her favourites wines
  • Cricut permanent Vinyl and adhesive backed deluxe paper
  • We used the slice feature in design space to have the beautiful paper come through a peak-a-boo pattern under some vinyl.

Diaper Cake

No baby sprinkle (or baby shower!) would be complete without a diaper cake.  Babies go through so. many. diapers.

How to make:

  • Diapers:
    • We like to use size one diapers since you never know how long babies will be in newborn size.
    • How many? well it depends how large the cake will be! Usually between 75-100 for a 3 tier cake
    • Roll the diapers and secure with an elastic band
  • Get foam core for the base and hot glue an empty cricut roll (or paper towel roll) to the centre for stability (I wait and cut down to size once the diapers are on it
  • Line up the diapers around the centre roll and secure with an elastic. Create another row on the bottom using the same method. Do this three times for a three tier cake. Then start on the next row
  • Decorate with ribbon, cricut cut flowers (made from their cardstock) and other fun things to match your theme!

Popcorn Bar

We wanted something to snack on but we did want to make sure we were still being covid safe. A popcorn bar was the perfect solution! We put out bowls with serving spoons and some sweet goodies!

We hope this gives you some great ideas on how to make your next baby sprinkle special even if it has no guests!!

Happy Crafting!
