layered cardstock of matching colours to create easy Easter Eggs

Easy and Fun Easter Egg Crafts with your Kids!

One thing I love about Easter is how COLOURFUL everything is. I am a sucker for pastel colours.

I wanted to make something simple and colourful that my daughter would enjoy and something I could use as a decoration or card!

These 2 piece cardstock egg creations were a hit! Get your kids to help you choose the colours and glue the pieces together!

Steps for Scissor Cutting!

If you are using scissors:

  1. On a piece of cardstock, draw an egg shape that is about 5 inches high and 3 inches wide. This will be your guide for the rest of the eggs.
  2. On your coloured cardstock, trace around your guide to create multiple eggs on various colours.
  3. Cut out the eggs. These will be your coloured base eggs.
  4. On a different complementing colour of cardstock (example: I used a blue base egg with pink as the complementing colour on top) use your guide egg to trace the shape of the egg…this will allow you to cut your designs to fit the base egg.
  5. Within the shape you just traced, cut out squiggles, dots, whatever designs you would like. It doesn’t have to be connected together, they can be separate pieces that you glue onto the base egg. You could even use multiple colours on top if you wanted!!
  6. Put the eggs together! Get creative with your colours!

If you're using a Cricut:

I used my Cricut Joy to create the eggs shown.

  1. Open Design Space
  2. The two overlay designs that I used are free images! #MB4DA9AF and #MB4DA9D9
  3. For the base egg I used the image #M1E8BB13E. It is a 3 layer image, but I just hid the 2 top layers so that the main egg shape was only visible.
  4. Size all eggs to the same size. I did mine about 5 x 3 inches.
  5. Put your cardstock onto your blue Light Grip Mat…my daughter used the brayer and loved every second of it.
  6. Cut away! Remember to use lots of different coloured cardstock
  7. Once all are cut out, glue the layers together!

I used the eggs as cards as well as decorations for the playroom.

I strung some twine across and used pegs to hold them up!

I hope you enjoy these cute eggs!
